ATTO launches Fibre Channel SAN upgrade kits

Bundled solutions to be distributed by Ingram Micro.

ATTO Technology has introduced a range of Fibre Channel SAN Kits providing all the components needed to update existing direct-attached storage to a high-performance, low-latency storage area network. The kits are available now through Ingram Micro's network of resellers, telecommunications companies, carriers, hosting companies, MSPs, system integrators and other IT suppliers.
ATTO Fibre Channel SAN Kits enable SysAdmins to increase the ROI and lifespan of existing storage by quickly and cost-effectively converting direct-attached SAS RAID, JBOD or JBOF storage to SAN technology. The solution allows for storage to be scaled with little effort and will benefit any environment experiencing slow host-to-host data transfers. It also provides a faster method to perform live migrations in virtual environments such as VMware® vSphere, along with redundancy for rapid virtual machine restarts in the event of a host or storage failure.
“Some users have avoided installing a SAN due to a perception of high cost as compared to other storage solutions,” said James U’Ren, Storage Controller product manager at ATTO Technology. “But consider the costs associated with not being able to access data for hours or days while it is being retrieved and rerouted over a local LAN via Ethernet to other hosts. ATTO Fibre Channel SAN Kits overcome these challenges by providing a cost-effective, low-risk solution that takes only about an hour of downtime to install on 4 ESXi hosts.”
Three ATTO Fibre Channel SAN Kit options are available:
  • Entry-Level
Ideal for updating a small number of direct-attached storage products to shared storage. Kit includes (1) 7500 Storage Controller and (2) ATTO Celerity™16Gb/s Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters. Provides up to 3.2GB/s throughput and 735,000 4K IOPS from existing storage while enabling sharing between server hosts.
  •  Mid-Tier
Allows SysAdmins to connect a small storage infrastructure to dual ATTO Storage Controllers. Kits include (2) 7500 Storage Controllers, (2) Celerity™ 16Gb/s Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters and (1) FibreConnect™ 16Gb/s Fibre Channel Switch. Provides high performance throughput up to 6.4GB/s and 1.47M 4K IOPS.
  •  High Availability
Lets SysAdmins create a larger infrastructure with up to 8 attached host servers and no single point of failure. Kits include (2) 7500 Storage Controllers, (2) FibreConnect™ 16Gb/s Fibre Channel Switches and (8) Celerity™ 16Gb/s Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters. Provides high performance throughput up to 6.4GB/s and 1.47M 4K IOPS.
