Cisco completes accompany acquisition

Cisco has completed the acquisition of Accompany, a privately held company based in Los Altos, Calif. The company provides an AI-driven relationship intelligence platform for finding new prospects, navigating the selling process, and strengthening relationships.Accompany's AI technology and talent will help Cisco accelerate priority areas across its collaboration portfolio.











Remote monitoring of London's buses

Software AG has revealed how STW (Sensor-Technik Wiedemann) is implementing a solution, powered by Software AG’s Cumulocity IoT platform, for remote condition monitoring of exhaust gas treatment systems retrofitted to London buses as part of the Greater London Authority’s plans to create an Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ). HJS Emission Technology is the company that will provide the high-efficiency emissions systems to the Transport for London (TfL) buses, coupled with its UK partner, Emission Engineering Ltd (EEL).









IoT security spending to reach $1.5 billion in 2018

Internet of Things (IoT)-based attacks are already a reality. A recent CEB, now Gartner, survey found that nearly 20 per cent of organisations observed at least one IoT-based attack in the past three years. To protect against those threats Gartner, Inc. forecasts that worldwide spending on IoT security will reach $1.5 billion in 2018, a 28 per cent increase from 2017 spending of $1.2 billion.



Tackling the compromised IoT threat

Exabeam has introduced a new product that uses machine learning to spot compromised IoT and other devices. Exabeam Entity Analytics discovers the normal behaviour of medical, industrial, networking, home and mobile devices, and uses that baseline to alert security teams when unusual events occur.
