CenturyLink achieves with Carbon Trust Standard accreditation in UK data centres

CenturyLink has completed the re-certification process with the Carbon Trust Standard, re-affirming its commitment to reducing carbon consumption across its data centre estate. Previously certified in 2014, the CenturyLink team is continuing its drive to use energy efficient infrastructure and pursue best practice for clean energy consumption.

DataVita achieves Uptime Institute certification

DataVita, one of Scotland’s premier datacentre providers, has been awarded Tier III Constructed Certification by The Uptime Institute (TUI) for phase 1 of the Fortis Datacentre, becoming the first dedicated co-location provider in the UK to achieve this. Demonstrating its commitment to build Scotland’s first world class co-location datacentre, after achieving Stage 1 – Design certification – in 2015, DataVita has achieved stage two – Construction certification and plans to achieve stage III – Operational Sustainability – in the coming year.


Siemon exceeds ISO/IEC class II channel requirements with TERA

Siemon says that its fully shielded TERA end-to-end twisted-pair copper cabling system exceeds the draft class II requirements of ISO/IEC 11801-1 (Committee Draft N2483). Class II channels and permanent links are qualified up to 2 GHz and constructed from category 8.2 connecting hardware, cables and cords to meet future 25 Gb/s (25GBASE-T) and 40 Gb/s (40GBASE-T) applications.





maincubes one lays foundation stone for next-generation data centre

Frankfurt-based data center operator maincubes laid the foundation stone for the new high-performance data center in Offenbach near Frankfurt on August 30, 2016, accompanied by representatives from local politics, investors, partners and future customers. At the foundation stone-laying ceremony, the speeches were made by Horst Schneider, Mayor of Offenbach, Günther Weiß, EVO Board of Management, Stephan Lang, Managing Director of ICT Facilities and Oliver Menzel, CEO of maincubes. Following the official ceremony, a presentation on the capability of the new high-performance data center was given by Albrecht Kraas, CTO of maincubes.

Without such practices in place, providers will be unable to protect consumers from excessive data restrictions as data centres seek to satisfy customer demands against dwindling energy supplies.
