Intel innovates for the 'data-centric' era

Report analyses analytics market

MicroStrategy  has released the results of its “2018 Global State of Enterprise Analytics” report. MicroStrategy surveyed 500 enterprise analytics and business intelligence professionals from around the world on the state of their organizations’ analytics initiatives. 90% of respondents reported that data and analytics are either very important or somewhat important to their organizations’ digital transformation efforts, and that their investments in data and analytics this year and in the next five years are accelerating.

Gartner warns over database management

Prerelational database management systems (DBMSs) are aging technology, and the number of applications using these systems is declining. The market share for prerelational DBMS products continues to decrease. Gartner, Inc. predicts that by 2020, prerelational DBMS revenue will account for less than 1 per cent of the overall DBMS market.

Decision-making overlooks data value

SnapLogic has released “The 2018 Data Value Report,” a new study that reveals enterprises expect to generate a 547% return on their data investments, increasing revenue by an average $5.2 million as a result of using data more effectively. However, businesses have only scratched the surface in realizing data’s potential: On average, organizations are using only half (51%) the data they collect or generate, and data drives less than half (48%) of decisions.
