An eye for AI

Visual impairment (VI) affects nearly one out of twenty people, according to the World Health Organization, and nearly 80% of VI is avoidable through preventative measures. Detecting retinal disease early is critical, but ophthalmologists have lacked the resources to thoroughly study and diagnose the disease. Artificial Intelligence (AI) may be able to help and save the vision of millions of patients in the process.

Empowering researchers to tackle tough challenges

High performance computing (HPC) is now critical to the advanced level of research being conducted in many academic fields. In a 2014 study, a Clemson University team found that locally available HPC resources definitively enhance the technical efficiency of research output at universities in the study of chemistry, civil engineering, physics and history.
