Scality has introduced RING 7.4.1, augmenting the 7.4 Long Term Support (LTS) release. This release continues Scality’s relentless focus and investment to bring advantages in scalability and freedom of choice from Software Defined Storage (SDS) to enterprise customers with additional capabilities for simplified operations and enhanced multi-tenant security.

With new features that enable service providers and to reduce the overall cost of petabyte-scale deployment and operations both for them and for enterprises, the release brings comprehensive utilisation reporting to streamline storage capacity planning, billing and chargeback.  Additional capabilities incorporate intuitive UI-based access to full utilisation metrics including bandwidth, operations and capacity at multiple usage levels, as an enhancement to the ground-breaking Amazon S3 Service Management console introduced in RING 7.4.

“Hearing our RING customers report millions in operational savings further motivates us to push the envelope in making scale-out storage as simple as an appliance,” said Jerome Lecat, CEO, Scality.  “Our mantra is to prioritise the real-world benefits to our customers, and this means to bulletproof reliability, security, ease-of-use and freedom of choice all while offering the lowest possible TCO.”

RING 7.4.1 also extends the secure multi-tenancy capabilities of the RING by enhancing the Amazon S3 Service Management console to provide simple management of AWS-style access control policies. The RING uniquely implements a comprehensive, 100 percent AWS IAM-compatible identity and access management service with Accounts, Users, Groups, Policies and secure key pair-based authentication. RING 7.4.1 delivers a point-and-click user interface for simplified management of User and Group level policies, to enable administrators and DevOps personnel to easily secure access to the RING according to business requirements.

“Our customers in healthcare, financial services and government care deeply about securing their platforms,” said Paul Speciale, Chief Product Officer, Scality“With our continued focus on simplifying and securing scale-out storage, we are seeing tremendous trust from a growing customer base in those security-sensitive industries.”
