Rausch Netzwerktechnik launches two world premieres at CloudFest

Rausch Netzwerktechnik GmbH, German storage and server manufacturer and vendor, is Diamond Partner of this year’s CloudFest (formerly known as World Hosting Days) in the Europa-Park Rust. At the event next week, the team led by CEO Sebastian Noelting presents two new systems that are supposed to revolutionize the server and storage market.

It all starts with the server system Tormenta VarioScaler, which promises great benefits, especially for data centers. The operating principle is simple explained: data centers are able to install different motherboards, drives, power supplies, etc. in a modular and flexible way from a height of 1U, as it suits their needs. If changes are needed, the components are quickly replaced.

For example, 1U has four drive modules that can each be equipped with different SAS/SATA or NVMe SSDs or HDDs. Even more flexibility provides the selection of boards, because both Intel/AMD, mITX, mATX, ATX, eATX and single and dual socket fit into the system. Ultimately, you can then choose between single or redundant power supply.

Exchange instead of buying new
Another major feature of the Tormenta VarioScaler is the ability to scale the housing with 2U or 3U height expansion modules. Of course, every other Unit has the option to record up to four of the drive modules, too. The rear panel allows up to seven PCIe cards.

"If an existing system is to be transferred to a new application, it is possible to define different configurations on a uniform basis in a highly flexible manner. In addition, you no longer must buy a completely new system. This reduces budget, effort and waste,” says Sebastian Noelting. With Tormenta VarioScaler, existing machines can be used repeatedly by replacing individual modules – “without having to dispose of everything existing and buy new ones,” explains Noelting. “The useful life of many components is thus significantly extended, the return on investment (ROI) is shortened because of the uniform basis.”

SDS storage appliance with ErasureCoding 3+2 announced for Q2
For the second quarter of this year, Rausch Netzwerktechnik also announces another system that has not yet been available in this form on the market: Sasquatch StorageAppliance. In the sense of software defined storage (SDS), a 3U Scale-Out system is created within which Erasure Coding (EC) is possible. The system will be expanded with five servernodes and up to 180TB gross capacity. The preinstalled software supports ErasureCoding, ensuring high reliability. As with any Scale-Out storage system, adding more systems allows you to scale capacity and bandwidth in parallel.

“Not only is it the first ErasureCoding 3+2 in the box appliance on the market, it's also the first appliance with this feature set. The application possibilities are enormously versatile,” says Noelting proudly.
