Cradlepoint launches all-inclusive Cloud Service packages

Cradlepoint has introduced all-inclusive cloud service packages for its Internet of Things (IoT) network solutions that include Software-Defined Perimeter technology for secure device-to-cloud connectivity. This is the second major product announcement from Cradlepoint under its new NetCloud Solution Packages model, which launched Jan. 16, 2018.

Organisations of all sizes are deploying IoT solutions over cellular 4G LTE networks to enable new business opportunities, streamline operations and reduce costs. However, according to a 2017 survey report by James Brehm & Associates, over half of the 416 respondents cited the need for better IoT security, with 65 percent listing security as a significant barrier to expanding their deployments. The second highest barrier was the cost-to-deploy at 48 percent. Simply offering low-cost hardware doesn’t sufficiently address the mounting security and device management challenges faced by companies with sprawling IoT deployments.

Affordability Without Sacrificing Security and Manageability

Cradlepoint’s Elastic Edge™ is a blueprint for next-generation IoT networking that includes pervasive wireless connectivity, cloud management and integrated Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) security, which uses encrypted, perimeter-secured virtual overlays with private IP addressing to isolate and cloak IoT devices from the Internet. With today’s Cradlepoint announcement, customers no longer need to trade off security and manageability to get an affordable LTE router solution for IoT.

“Everything we’re hearing from partners and industry experts warns about the risks of trading off manageability and security for a low price when it comes to buying an enterprise IoT solution,” said Todd Krautkremer, chief marketing officer at Cradlepoint. “We’ve bundled cloud management and advanced, software-defined security with every NetCloud Solution Package for IoT we sell, so customers don’t have to.”

At this week’s IoT Evolution Expo conference, Cradlepoint is unveiling NetCloud Solution Packages for its new COR IBR200 LTE router that extends the benefits of Elastic Edge to even the most cost-sensitive use cases, including kiosks, vending machines, ATMs, digital signage and remote sensors. The new cloud service solution packages simplify the way customers buy, deploy, manage and evolve their Cradlepoint IoT networks, facilitating rapid deployment and time-to-value, as well as customer success. Each package, which is available in one-, three- or five-year terms, combines essential NetCloud service capabilities — including NetCloud Perimeter for SDP security — with lifetime-warranted IBR200 Series hardware and comprehensive 24x7 support.

“Despite the huge growth in IoT deployments, security and management-related costs remain top concerns for IT organisations,” said James Brehm, founder of Brehm & Associates. “Cradlepoint has taken a service-oriented approach to addressing these challenges by combining cloud management, routing and security features, along with purpose-built hardware, into a single cloud service with 24x7 vendor support. With their new IBR200 LTE router, Cradlepoint has made it possible for any size and skilled business to deploy a secure and cost-effective cellular IoT solution.”

In addition to the operational savings represented by Cradlepoint’s new, all-inclusive cloud service packaging model, the IBR200 router is equipped with a medium-speed 4G LTE modem that allows customers to take advantage of low-cost IoT/M2M data plans offered by major cellular providers. This combination enables channel partners to bring the value of Cradlepoint’s proven 4G LTE IoT solutions to a wider range of customers and use cases.

“Cradlepoint’s cloud management and innovative software features, such as intelligent 4G LTE routing and automatic carrier selection, have made them the solution of choice for large IoT deployments within Fortune 500 customers”, said Peter Dunn, consulting director at Orbcomm. “The new NetCloud Solution Packages and COR IBR200 router provide an even more compelling value while simplifying the buying process, accelerating deployment times, enhancing security and reducing cellular data plan costs — issues that have been real pain points, especially for more cost-sensitive customers.”
