The Cloud Industry Forum (CIF), the industry body focused on raising standards and improving transparency in the cloud sector, has announced that Barracuda – a leader in cloud-enabled security and data protection solutions – has become its latest member, in another sign that its membership roster is rapidly growing.

Whilst Barracuda’s heritage lies in email and web security appliances, its wide selection of products and services has expanded to embrace network security and data protection, providing organisations of all sizes with protection that can be deployed on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.

CIF is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve standards and education in the cloud industry. It provides transparency through certification to a Code of Practice to endorse credible providers of cloud services and, through its Professional CIF Membership scheme, assists end users in determining the core information necessary to enable them to adopt such services with confidence.

Chris Hill, EMEA Business Development Director, Barracuda Networks, commented: “Barracuda has been at the forefront of securing customer migration to the public cloud. Our cloud engineered firewall technologies currently protect over 1,000 organisations on public cloud platforms and we continue to drive innovation in this space. We have witnessed the growth of cloud computing, and have seen how it has developed in sophistication and popularity over the years. Barracuda leverages the innovations and capabilities provided by the leading public cloud vendors, and uses automation to simplify and accelerate security management of the cloud in order to address any organisation’s security needs and give them peace of mind when using cloud-based services. CIF does fantastic work in fostering a greater level of transparency and quality in the cloud marketplace, and we are excited to begin contributing to its work.”

Alex Hilton, CEO of the Cloud Industry Forum, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Barracuda into CIF. As an organisation with a long history in cloud computing and both great breadth and depth of expertise in cloud security, they have a huge amount to bring to our efforts to create a more transparent cloud computing marketplace. Our members are made up of the global thought leaders from across the widest spectrum of organisations enabling or delivering cloud services and to that end we look forward to working with Barracuda going forward”
