PacketFabric in the Groove for private multi-terabit backbone network

PacketFabric, provider of next-generation Ethernet-based cloud networking services and a member of the NantWorks ecosystem of companies, has deployed the Coriant Groove™ G30 DCI Platform to support its fully automated Software-defined Networking (SDN)-based platform. The PacketFabric platform offers users the ability to instantaneously provision terabit-scale connectivity in a direct, private, and secure manner, providing seamless connectivity across the PacketFabric network.

Selected for its unmatched performance and scalability, the Coriant Groove™ G30 DCI Platform provides PacketFabric with the capacity and features necessary to support its next-generation, software-enabled transport and interconnection platform. Coriant’s unique technology enables a scalable and flexible backbone network, capable of adapting to changing traffic patterns and growing demand for video and cloud services, as well as Data Center Interconnection (DCI).

“A critical component underpinning the functionality of the PacketFabric platform is access to massive amounts of underlying optical transport capacity,” said Richard Steenbergen, Chief Technology Officer of PacketFabric. “As such, we carefully evaluated the latest state-of-the-art DWDM infrastructure offerings from a number of different sources. The Coriant Groove™ G30 DCI Platform delivered far and away the best scalability, density, and power efficiency in the market, as well as the SDN capabilities necessary to support our next-generation automated infrastructure.”

The Coriant Groove™ G30 DCI Platform is an innovative stackable transport solution for cloud, data center, and IX networks that delivers industry-leading 3.2 Tbps of capacity throughput in a highly compact, power-efficient 1RU form factor. It supports software programmable and highly scalable DWDM line rates (100G/150G/200G), enabling PacketFabric to maximize cost-efficiency and performance across its backbone.

“We are pleased to partner with PacketFabric and support their revolutionary approach to interconnect services with a high-performance DCI solution optimized for their packet optical transport needs,” said Tarcisio Ribeiro, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer, Coriant.

PacketFabric’s SDN-based network platform connects major carrier hotels and data centers throughout North America, and is designed to deliver hundreds of Terabits/sec of on-demand connectivity across its purpose-built private backbone network. By leveraging this innovative architecture, PacketFabric allows customers to easily procure and maintain their network services in real-time, while reaching many hundreds of destinations without the need to deploy and manage costly infrastructure, or rely on the public internet. PacketFabric customers pay only for what they use, which eliminates the hassle of long-term contracts and expensive stranded capacity.

The PacketFabric SDN platform provides both a web-based portal and advanced Application Program Interface (API), enabling customers to dynamically design and deploy any network configuration on-demand. Real-time analytics capabilities further extend the platform, providing complete control and visibility into network performance and traffic data.
