BeyondTrust has released PowerBroker Password Safe version 6.0, the company’s privileged password and privileged session management solution. Including new features designed to help IT administrators manage and monitor privileged access more effectively, Password Safe version 6.0 offers enterprises more ways to make privileged session management scalable, improve workflow, and connect IAM solutions, providing more security around account access.

PowerBroker Password Safe version 6.0 includes all-new SSH DirectConnect, which enables enterprises to easily establish SSH sessions via existing desktop tools, without initiating a Web interface, giving IT administrators more control without negative operational impact.

With Active/Active targeted password change, agents are built into every node with Password Safe version 6.0, ensuring complete scalability by distributing the password change workload. This enables environments with active/active deployments, such as large enterprises and MSPs, to selectively process queue items for designated local workgroups.

DirectConnect and Active/Active targeted password change capabilities eliminate the extra steps that IT administrators must regularly take to manage and administer privileged password and session management, which saves time and improves workflow.

In addition, PowerBroker Password Safe version 6.0 also provides seamless integration with existing identity providers, including SailPoint IdentityIQ, leveraging enhanced SAML support, which helps IT administrators’ single sign-on initiatives. SailPoint IdentityIQ integration helps IT organizations enforce a least privilege access model, improving governance and audit compliance objectives across both privileged and non-privileged accounts.

“Admins who manage dozens of sessions on a daily basis are challenged with time-consuming login and access processes. With DirectConnect, Password Safe, customers have a way to establish direct connections to SSH sessions, and they can utilize time-saving shortcuts within tools like PuTTY and MobaXterm,” said Brad Hibbert, chief technology officer, BeyondTrust. “Managing user access for both privileged and non-privileged accounts requires multiple interfaces. While identity and access management (IAM) solutions help IT teams answer ‘who has access to what’, only PowerBroker also accounts for privileged user access, addressing ‘is that access appropriate?’ and ‘is that access being used appropriately?’”
