Digital transformation should top CIOs’ agendas

It is imperative for CIOs to focus on implementing digital transformation. According to a report from Level 3 Communications and IDG Connect, which offers business intelligence, digital transformation is a key focus for organisations across key Western Europe markets, with 60 per cent of current IT investment designed to support future business expansion and growth. Meanwhile, almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of organisations have struggled to adequately implement cloud, mobile or Big Data analytics, as they are unable to keep up with the pace of change.

Siemon highlights 'low-cost' performance risks

Siemon has released the results of comprehensive testing on the performance of plug and play optical fibre cable assemblies used in 40 and 100 Gigabit applications. Outlined in a new white paper ‘A Closer Look at Plug and Play MPO/MTP Assemblies’, the results clearly show that lower-cost generic assemblies from unknown suppliers can compromise performance in today’s high speed fibre optic links.

Aberdeenshire Council readies students for the digital frontier

Aberdeenshire Council has selected Aerohive Networks to deliver a wireless system across the council’s entire school estate, its libraries and corporate buildings. The council identified the need for a “fit for purpose” wireless environment to support an increasing move towards digital learning within schools across Aberdeenshire. The solution was also seen as a key enabler for the council’s new Digital Strategy, Innovate Aberdeenshire.
